About the real test

What to expect on test day

Indiana's learner's permit knowledge exam is a computer test taken at a BMV branch; arrive at least 30 minutes before the branch closes. It has two parts, one on traffic signs and one on traffic rules, and you need 80% or higher on each part to pass. You can get a permit at 15 if you are enrolled in driver education, or at 16 otherwise. The BMV offers the exam in English and 19 other languages. The BMV does not publish how many questions are on the exam, so there is no full-length mock exam here.

Every question here is written from the official Indiana Driver's Manual and shows the page it comes from. Practice signs and rules by topic or in mixed sets, then review your misses.
