Show the answer
✓ C. Move into the indicated lane; road ahead closed
Large flashing or sequencing arrow panels guide drivers into certain lanes and show that part of the road ahead is closed.
2.You are pulling out of a parallel parking space. Who is chiefly responsible for avoiding a collision?
- AWhoever is moving faster
- BDrivers already on the street
- CYou, the driver leaving the space
- DThe car parked behind you
Show the answer
✓ C. You, the driver leaving the space
The driver leaving a parking space has the chief responsibility for avoiding a collision. Look, signal and yield.
3.You want to turn around on a highway near a curve. You can see 400 feet in each direction. May you turn there?
- ANo, you need 1,000 feet
- BNo, you need 500 feet

- DYes, if you signal early
Show the answer
✓ B. No, you need 500 feet

4.A train has just passed the crossing and the gates are still down. What should you do?
- AWait for the gates to rise and check for another train
- BHonk your horn twice and then drive across
- CDrive around the gates now that the train has passed
- DCross quickly before a second train can arrive
Show the answer

Never drive around gates. Wait until they rise, and watch for a second train, especially from the other direction.
5.You are wearing only the lap belt. What does the handbook say about this?
- AIt protects you better than a shoulder belt does
- BIt is illegal to wear a lap belt by itself

- DIt gives the same protection as lap and shoulder
Show the answer

A lap belt helps, but it will not stop your head and chest from hitting the wheel, dashboard or windshield. A lap and shoulder belt together give the best protection.
6.You are stopped at a red light and want to turn right. There is no sign prohibiting it. What must you do?
- ATurn without stopping if the road looks clear
- BWait for the light to turn green
- CTurn only if a police officer waves you on
- DCome to a full stop, then turn when it is safe
Show the answer
✓ D. Come to a full stop, then turn when it is safe
Right turns on a red ball are allowed only after a full stop, when the turn is safe, and when no 'No turn on red' sign is posted.
